Hands-Free Foot-Activated Liftgate

Thanks to the available hands-free foot-activated liftgate, there's no need to fumble for keys. Its operation is especially helpful when your arms are full of items like grocery bags. With the Intelligent Access key fob in your pocket or purse, kick your foot under the bumper and the liftgate opens. You can also adjust the liftgate height, helpful for lower overhangs. Available on SEL Technology Package and standard on Titanium.

Capability

AWD with AWD Disconnect

Designed to save fuel, available All-Wheel Drive Disconnect can disable the rear driveline when the system detects AWD is not needed. This allows only the front wheels to propel the vehicle, reducing drag and the overall energy demands of the drivetrain.

Selectable Drive Modes

Designed to help improve your driving experience and handling on varying road surfaces. The different modes are Eco, Sport, Normal, Slippery and Sand. Once selected, each one of these driving modes can modify the electronic stability control system and traction control system without you having to do anything.

Safety

Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking

We should all drive defensively, but sometimes other people's lack of attention can create a hazard. This feature scans the road ahead and can alert you to potential collisions with vehicles or pedestrians detected in your path. If an impact becomes imminent and you don't take corrective action, the brakes can apply automatically. But don't worry, they'll only activate when needed.

Available Active Park Assist 2.0

Parking made easy - even in tight parallel or reverse perpendicular spots. When engagest, it can help locate a potential spot. Then all you have to do is brake to a complete stop, shift into Neutral, and hold down the Active Park Assist button - your vehicle does the rest. Available Active Park Assist 2.0 also offers park out assist with side-sensing capability so you can confidently navigate out of a parking spot when someone is parked too close to you.

What are the powertrain options for the 2021 Ford Escape

The 2021 Ford Escape has four engine options, two gas and two hybrids. The base engine, standard on the S, SE, and SEL trims, is a 1.3L turbocharged I-3 cylinder engine. This provides drivers with 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. For those who seek more thrill, a 250-hp, 280 lb-ft of torque 2.0L turbocharged I-4 is available to be swapped into the SEL trim. For the drivers seeking maximum fuel efficiency, there is a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid option. The hybrid mates a 2.5L I-4 with an 88-kW electric motor. This setup produces 200 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque while maintaining an estimated average of 41 MPG. The plug-in hybrid combines the same engine and electric motor. It gets the same horsepower and torque but gets up to 100 MPG on electric power alone and 41 MPG on gas and electric. All gas variants of the Escape come with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the hybrid engines are mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is an available option.
